Academy of Finance
Curriculum Scope
Summer Internship
The summer internship is a key element in the education package provided by the Academy. It offers our students the opportunity to bridge the gap between the classroom and the workplace through closely supervised employment experiences. Students learn how to function in a business setting that requires a high level of performance and accountability. The internship candidates eagerly look forward to these experiences.
The employers work closely with the coordinator to design an internship experience which focuses on a variety of activities related to their specific business and to the finance in general. The employer makes the following commitment to the intern:
- Hire a student for a minimum of 125 hours.
- Pay the student and agreed upon salary.
- Plan a job experience to give full view of the company.
- Evaluate the job performance of the student weekly.
The Advisory Board members provide industry expertise, placement in paid summer internships, and assist in establishing financial support for program activities and special projects. A key element of this program is the integration of comprehensive classroom instruction and career preparation with workplace experience.
Our Advisory Board has made a commitment to improve the workforce in careers related to the financial services industry in New Jersey. To accomplish this, the Board wants our "best" to train and stay in New Jersey.
