Graphic Communications

Introduction to Graphic Communications

This beginning class will introduce incoming Graphic Majors to some of the basic programs and procedures used with the Graphic Communications Major. Design Principles along with many different computer applications will be covered. The student will learn the basics of PageMaker, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Powerpoint, and digital photography. The students will have to become proficient in these areas along with creating a professional looking portfolio before entering level 1 of the major. This clas will be used as a full year audition for the major. CR 5, YO 9 for Freshmen admitted to Graphic Communications Program only.

Graphic Communications 1

Hands-on experiences in the major printing methods: photo offset, letterpress and screen process. Students will also study basic photography. Emphasis will be on photo-offset printing which includes electronic image (design, typesetting, layout), reproduction photography, image assembly, plate making and press operation. Graphic Communications 2

Provides second level students with advanced training in electronic imaging and photo-offset printing as applied to the latest graphic communications technology. Introduction to color photography and color printing. CR 10, YO 10,11,12, P/W 10, PRE Graphic Communications 1

Graphic Communications 3

Provides the third level students with advanced training in digital color photography and printing as well as advanced computer graphic applications. CR 10, YO 11,12, PRE Graphic Communications 2

Cooperative Industrial Education

Cooperative Industrial Education Program 1 and 2

Juniors and seniors are employed part-time in cooperating industries in an approved occupation and released from school early to go to work. The employer assists in training the student and a daily in-school session deals with the information necessary to obtain, hold, and advance in a particular occupation. CR 15, YO 11,12, PRE 105 credits, P/W 5 + PM work. A student who is not employed by December 1 will be dropped from the program.
